Moira Downey, Research Facilitator, penned an online editorial about the Research Facilitation Service (RFS) in ResearchDataQ, a project of the Association of College and Research Libraries Digital Scholarship Section (ACRL DSS).

In “Making Campus Connections: Facilitating Research Computing and Data Support at NC State University,” Downey puts forth a compelling rationale for the RFS as a solution to the “decentralized ecosystems” of research support on many campuses. She goes into the history of the development of the RFS by the Libraries and campus partners and its launch with the College of Sciences. The editorial concludes with a recap of challenges and lessons learned, such as a new awareness of gaps in existing campus services around data storage and support for software development and an expansion of the RFS to the College of Natural Resources this spring.
